At APEI, we believe that a culture of service is key to our success. Our efforts extend beyond the realm of education to include investing in communities, supporting social outreach, and cultivating diversity.
In alignment with our mission to provide affordable, accessible, and career-relevant higher education, we have established several policies to help guide our daily activities. These policies influence student success, employee satisfaction, enrollment growth and financial performance. In addition, we maintain updated consumer information, fact sheets, news, and other channels of communication to inform our key stakeholders of our latest initiatives.
APEI prioritizes creating a safe, inclusive environment. We offer a range of employee training programs to all full-time and part-time employees, adjunct faculty, and instructors to help bolster this effort, including diversity, anti-corruption, compliance and anti-discrimination training. Our executive team attends annual trainings on ADA guidelines, anti-harassment, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) best practices. Similarly, our Board of Directors is trained in anti-corruption and anti-discrimination strategies, in addition to receiving regular trainings on ethics. Furthermore, we encourage all employees to use our anonymous Whistleblower Hotline to report any incidents that do not align with these ongoing efforts.
Full-time APEI employees are entitled to our attractive benefits packages, which include professional development, flexible hours, remote work options, tuition reimbursement, and wellness/fitness programs. We are also committed to providing a fair living wage for all full-time staff.
APEI values our employees’ views, concerns, and preferences. In 2022, we began conducting company-wide engagement surveys with the goal of improving the overall employee experience. These survey results are used as a foundation to implement new programs and processes that benefit our employees and their families.
Our students, graduates, and employees collectively support communities nationwide, volunteering their time at local hospitals and public schools. Additionally, our learning community supports philanthropic programs that include Wreaths Across America, Susan G. Komen®1, the African American Male Wellness Walk, Community Health Fairs, Girls’ Night Out, Columbus Pride Parade, Adopt a Highway, Community Service Day, and many more.
APEI offers full-time employees across all our institutions with eight hours of additional paid time off to participate in volunteer work.
APEI seeks to do business with partners who conduct their affairs in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. We also expect our partners to be committed to the highest ethical standards, while supporting business practices compatible with our values regarding human rights, fair and living wages, and zero tolerance for child labor, forces labor, slave labor and human trafficking.
We expect our vendors, consultants, and strategic partners to align their daily activities and operations with our values and policies. APEI requests vendors to notify the company should they become aware of any breach of trust or notable discrepancies in policies. It is imperative to our organization that we work exclusively with suppliers who choose to aid in our mission to foster an inclusive, welcoming space.

As a provider of higher education, we understand our obligation to cultivate a more holistic understanding of the diverse communities we serve. This awareness and knowledge begins by prioritizing inclusivity among our employees.
Recently, we embarked on a new partnership with Circa, a leader in diversity recruitment. We have encouraged the development of employee resource groups and student organizations/clubs dedicated to championing social equality. Combined with new trainings and strategies on DEI to help support personal growth, our organization is making great strides to foster a safe, healthy work environment.
Through APUS, Rasmussen University, Hondros College of Nursing, and GSUSA, APEI aims to create better ways to learn and grow. We believe in transformative education—for all—and we recognize that diversity and inclusion will strengthen our growing community.
